The Foundry Business Group, as one of Macronix's two major business groups, is dedicated in rendering wafer foundry services. This Group has its own teams of technology development, wafer manufacturing, as well as sales and marketing, which enable it to provide customers like IC Design companies and IDM companies with competitive and highly-efficient integrated wafer foundry services. As this Group is an omni-functioning organization, Macronix plans to set up an independent subsidiary company for it at an appropriate timing so that we may more focus on providing professional service to our customers.
Macronix started to offer wafer foundry service since year 2000. As of year 2005, Macronix has expanded this business to a 6-inch wafer fab capable to provide 36,000 wafers per month based on 0.35um to 1.0um technologies. At present, we provide this service to more than 30 customers with long-term and stable relationships. With the business philosophy of everlasting operation, Macronix will continue to research, develop and improve the process technologies on flat cell, high voltage, OTP (One Time Programmable), embedded NVM (embedded Non-Volatile Memory), analog, mixed-signal, MOSFET and MEMS in order that we may achieve, or even surpass, the high-quality and multi-functional application (such as Microprocessor Control Unit (MCU), speech IC, LCD/LED driver IC, power management IC, power MOS and MEMS) demands of our customers.
