​​Hsinchu, Taiwan, August 17, 2009 –Typhoon Morakot hit southern Taiwan severely, causing the worst devastating “88 Flood” in 50 years. To extend our deepest empathy to the suffering victims, Macronix International Co., Ltd. (TSE: 2337) today announced to contribute NT$100 Million for Typhoon Morakot relief.

In addition, Macronix‘ internal society, Forward Love, also initiated fund-raising activity to encourage employees to donate money. They aim to raise at least NT$2 Million for the typhoon victims.

“88 Flood has caused great damages in southern areas,” said Miin Wu, Chairman & CEO of Macronix. “We regard it as the Company's obligation to provide assistance to the misfortuned victims and decide to contribute NT$100 Million for disaster relief. In the meantime, we also expect this could encourage the society to join the relief efforts.”
